Tally - Earned Screen Time
Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to Tally - Earned Screen Time, an iOS app from Dakota Informatics, LLC. Tally helps families replace screen-time arguments with a clearer system: children earn screen time through study, and parents set the rules using Apple's Screen Time and CloudKit technologies.

Information Tally uses
Tally is designed to use only the information needed to pair family devices, apply parental controls, and show study and reward status.
- Family pairing information such as a family code and related internal family identifier.
- Parent-provided family member names and device nicknames used to label connected devices.
- App settings and parental-control state, such as selected fun apps, selected study apps or websites, content mode, study goals, and reward balances.
- Device status information needed to keep parent and child devices in sync, such as check-in timestamps and current control state.
- Optional diagnostics information stored on-device to help with troubleshooting if you choose to export or share it for support.
How information is stored
- Some information is stored locally on the device using iOS app storage so the app and its extensions can continue enforcing parental controls.
- Parent PIN data is stored locally in the iOS Keychain and is not intended to be shared through CloudKit.
- Family sync information is stored in Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services so linked family devices can share settings and status.
How information is used
- To link parent and child devices within the same family.
- To apply and update parental-control settings across connected devices.
- To measure study progress and manage earned screen-time rewards.
- To support app reliability, diagnostics, and customer support when requested by the user.
What Tally does not do
- Tally does not sell personal information.
- Tally does not use third-party advertising SDKs or serve in-app ads.
- Tally does not use third-party cross-app tracking for advertising.
- Tally is designed around Apple platform services rather than separate account creation on an external website.
Children's privacy
Tally is intended to be configured by a parent or guardian for family use. The app is designed to keep the amount of child-related information limited to what is needed to identify a child device, apply controls, and show reward status inside the family.
Your choices
You can stop using Tally at any time by deleting the app, removing linked devices, or resetting local app data on your devices. If you need help with a privacy question or data request, contact Dakota Informatics at business.enquiries@dakotainformatics.com.
